More blame directed at Reality TV

Shelley, according to a small item in the Courier Mail on Monday 17 October, reality television can add bullying, gossiping and lying to obtain what you want to its list of effects. It was a “study” by the Girl Scouts in the US. Perhaps those who bully, gossip and lie are more likely to watch reality television might be the truth. But there is no “study” for that ... yet.

As you say in “Lessons learnt from the Screen” post, TV is influential but better engagement with children about their viewing habits by parents and teachers could open up that world of opportunity.

I will be elaborating on reality television and youth in a substantial blog entry to be posted soon.
